SISTAS in the community!
Community Outreach
S.I.S.T.A.S do not only provide service in their profession, but also serve in the community! Check out a few of our outreach programs and service projects!


Santa got help from the SISTAs of Middle Georgia for Christmas 2022.
Approximately, one hundred back scratchers and 226 pairs of socks were delivered to Macon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center (formerly Laurel Baye)

Each month, language-rich stories are read and provided to local head start and preschool programs. Click HERE for a sample of our monthly story time for language stimulation.



The Sistas read Halloween stories and created a spooky craft at Joshua's House Oct. 18, 2023.

Sistas participate in "Read for the Record" at Bruce Elementary School Oct. 26,2023.


Sistas read a story and made turkey masks for Thanksgiving with the students at Joshua's House Nov. 16, 2023.








Sistas first ever toy and book drive held Dec. 2, 2023, at Smiley's Flea Market in Macon, GA, was a success! Thanks to our amazing sponsors, our jolly Santa, the awesome DJ, and our fabulous volunteers! As always, our goal to increase literacy and serve the community.



As part of the toy and book drive, the Sistas gave the children of Bibb Mt. Zion Baptist Church free books on Dec. 3, 2023. It was an amazing weekend!


The Sistas make a Christmas delivery to Joshua's House Dec. 20, 2023. Our organization gifted two 32'' TVs, wall mounts, two gift bags, and a bag of lollipops. The children also enjoyed the Christmas Storytime.


The Sistas had a great time at Joshua's House March 20, 2024, doing Easter activities with the children. We read a story about the Easter bunny, completed an egg sorting activity and passed out bunny ears to each child.


The Sistas had pre-summer fun at Joshua's House May 16, 2024. The children listened to music, played a game, and received beach buckets, bubbles, and a book.


The Sistas fell for Fall at Joshua House Sept. 25, 2024. The children listened to a story about Fall and participated in an interactive activity.


The Sistas helped students at Joshua House give thanks just in time for Thanksgiving on Nov. 22, 2024.



The Sistas spread holiday cheer December 2024 at the Alice Adult Daycenter where they provided blankets and socks. The Sistas continued their happy holiday train to Joshua House where we read a story and engaged in holiday activities with the children. The children also received gifts.



The Sistas greet the new year January 2025 at Joshua's House with a "Winter Wonderland" activity and story. Sista Adele led the charge and read a story about snow and exposed the children to winter vocabulary. After the story, the students created snowballs and snowflakes. The students loved it and so did the Sistas!




The Sistas attended a Career Expo at Miller Middle School February 2025. We were excited to share the wonderful world of Speech Language Pathology with 6th-8th graders. It was a great day!


The Service Committee Sistas read "Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?" to the students at Joshua's House Feb. 19, 2025. The children listened for animals sounds during the story and imitated the sounds. They also worked on listening skills by following 1-2-step directions. It was a blast!


The Service Committee hopped into Spring and Easter March 19, 2025, at Joshua's House. Our Sista Beverly read a book about a bunny whose ears changed positions. The children listened and manipulated their bunny ears using the vocabulary from the book. After, they chose a cup with a number and hopped like a bunny that number of times. Last, they participated in an interactive listening activity. The Sistas enjoyed each moment!


Our Sistas read a book called "Weather Book for Kids: All About Weather" to the children at Joshua's House April 23, 2025. The students labeled pictures and answered questions about the book. They also experienced various types of weather using technology. After Joshua's House, the Sistas delivered Spring themed baskets to Alice's Adult Daycare, which were beautifully decorated by our talented Sista Beverly. Sista Adele provided an inspiring message to the attendees before singing "The Old Rugged Cross." It was a beautiful day.


The Sistas took advantage of the beautiful fall day and read a story outside to the students at Joshua's House Oct. 15, 2025. It was an awesome day!






The Sistas were excited to partner with local Middle Georgia businesses and organizations at the 3rd annual Health Fair Oct. 25, 2025, in Forsyth, GA. It was great being together, meeting new people, and sharing information about our organization's purpose and the work we do in the community. Thanks for inviting us!

Sista Zanthia read "Blues Clues Thanksgiving Feast" to the children at Joshua's House Nov. 19, 2025. The children were engaged and did well answering questions about the story.
